This 1000% needs to be separated & added to so it’s 3 blends. The first is sugar beets alone - like above says- complete waste & makes 0 sense.
2nd is Brassicas alone & then 3rd: all the rest in the blend that dbltree ran. I’d for sure be buying all these seeds individually & planting at...
We just got like 1.5 inches in last 48 hours.
The #1 thing that has created issues for brassicas in past is drought. If you have moisture & u have a time when it’s dry enough to plant (or you did it before this rain) …. You are avoiding the #1 issue with brassicas. I don’t want to jinx...
Spend 1-2 days “cutting junk” in timber. Some openings, some hinge, some crop tree release. Insanity on deer activity. Been said a million times but few do it or do it right. Variety in everyone of your plots. Tons of food that’s “unpressured”.
IMO- if a guy takes the time to put a rub...
Brassicas are kinda like “corn”…. Once they eaten - you’re done. If you plant “too small” - be over fast. For sure need “good size plots” vs what might be big enough for a clover plot for example. Like in my case- I can do 1/4 acre clover & it’s fine. But- I better have 1-2 acres of...
Huge biz opp if guys will do this. My region has been very quiet for finding someone. Hope they keep growing & become more affordable. I know dudes with plots would be good $ to have em do cover crops.
If you don’t have flowering plants (so after it goes from flower to fruit) is best time to spray an insecticide. I’ve never grown pumpkins actually so not sure all the pests & diseases. I’ll see if MSU has a guide on pests- they usually do. Ok- here’s a good one I found, Rutgers…. Covers...
Million ways to do this. In this one example…. I just screwed down a fairly thick hedge post branch across it. Then I used zip ties for the extending / hanging oak & grape vine mix. As long as it’s high enough and sturdy a buck can’t tear it off (oh well if u make a mistake- who cares) …...
The “real answer” IMHO- gov has no clue what they are asking for and why. The offices usually don’t know what to spray and why. That’s why- I take my own approach which actually gets positive results. Smoke those cool seasons the way I want to & get the gov their invoice to check the box.
I’d run gly & ams on cool seasons either in spring - before the warm seasons are greened up. Or in fall when warm seasons go dormant. MOST stands have some junk cool seasons in them.
Agree with above. Get forester in and get state or federal funding if you can for Tsi. EQIP likely still has funds, I think. With trumps desires on our forestry sustainability- I don’t see that $ going away. Tsi is game changer!!!!!
Tsi, the right plots & other cover plantings…. Entrances...
Love it!!!! If u got real ambitious…. Go throw some mulch around em…. Anything from wood chips to hay. Then water them. I do that for trees & id guess it keeps things moist 1-2 weeks longer.
Hang in there!!! Perfect rain down here but I know the “we need rain” feeling!!!!
I have rub posts that have scrape branches off of them. & I’ll add stuff like “the perfect height” grape vines or oak branches that hold leaves with zip ties & use weed whipper to open ground up before season. Works amazing. Now- as we learn more…. All the sudden with solar powered cameras-...
I didn’t - what did he say in nutshell or fire up a link. Interesting to hear that POV. Even if I don’t agree or even when discuss with folks who prefer stocks over land…. Like hearing “why”.
I’ll make this really short & add as needed. Things are “ok” - I still would say, slight edge to seller. Some farms sitting but at same time, inventory very tight… the right ones move, like always I guess.
SOOOOO….. here’s my “trying to be helpful” iowawhitetail 2 cents from one schmucks...
I forgot about that lawsuit!!! So- I think it was Scentlok that was the inventor/patent holder and scentblocker licensed it from them. I think??? I THINK they only went after scentlock but maybe I’m Wrong there? I think u can still buy that stuff so they must still be in business.
Think 4.5” on me. Ponds & whole ecosystem need catch up so I’ll take it!!! :). 6+ inches in some areas- yikers.
So- in 25-ish years of growing something & watching weather - I don’t think I even know of a single year that didn’t have some issue… like “too much”. “Month of no rain”. “Severe...
