Knoxville, IA - Don't miss Lake Red Rock's 20th Annual Bald Eagle Day! To mark this historic year, come and see the new and exciting activities added to this...
We found a dead bobcat where we hunt during first shotgun. I've seen a bobcat in this section the last two years and they tell me I'm two of 6 confirmed sightings north of Lake Red Rock. Unfortunately we found one dead in December. I'm not convinced this is the one I saw earlier as it seems...
I hope this picture posts okay. I got it from the DNR officer in my area. This apparently is the second photo taken of the mountain lion. If you look close at this picture you can tell it is a tom cat of some sort. It has a white neck and chest. If you examine the angles and the trees it...
This is a longshot as most guys keep turkey fans as trophies but it's worth a shot. My uncle is looking for a Merriam tail feather for a reference in some carvings that he's doing. If you have one that you're willing to part with please send me a PM.
I agree that there shouldn't be restrictions on kids. The experience is far to important to the future of our sport and the growth of the kids to tarnish it with restrictions.
I also give props to the parents and mentors who take kids hunting. My son and I spent lots of time afield this year...
That is a tough habit to break. Please don't think I'm braggin by this post. Just sharing ideas that might lead to bigger and better bucks for all of us to hunt.
We went to a fine system several years ago. This year we went to a $20, $30, $40, $50 fine system. A buck as big as your steering...
What do you think is keeping hunters in these areas from getting the tags? Cost? Lack of HUSH lockers in the area? Marion and Jasper sell out before Thanksgiving every year and we have guys who wait to long and don't get them for shotgun season. I'd think these would sell out everywhere.
The guy who normally does my Euro mounts in iced in with damage and no electricity and is going to be a couple weeks before weeks before we can meet. If the heads stay cold I'll wait but I'm wondering if there isn't someone in the DSM area that does these as well in the $50 price range. Thoughts?
My dad, Alpha Male, has two extra tickets to the July 28 Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago. If this wasn't during RAGBRAI I'd have them myself but he's looking for interested blues/guitar fans who might want to buy them. Please send him a PM or call at 641-891-0239. He's trout...
I headed out into the storm shortly after I posted that message. I figured perfect weather and doing everything right (according to my rules) hadn't paid off so I'd break a few rules. An hour into the storm with a quick break in the ligtning I had 8 birds come by. Six sported birds so I picked...
Any thoughts on hunting this evening if the rain and thunder in central Iowa keeps up? Good or bad? I gotta try something. Been a long couple days with not tom's in range and very few out of range. Help!!!
Not sure if these pics have circulated through here or not but these are pretty cool. Supposedly taken by a bowhunter from the stand.
