    Who is shed hunting?!

The old saying “nobody has hunted it for years “ is rarely true !

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

If they buy them… at over $500 a tag ? Correct, I don’t see it . But who knows ?

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

States like North Dakota & South Dakota have a draw for gun hunters. It looks like Missouri has a lot of gun hunters. Maybe they take steps and cut back to 50 % of the current numbers ? I’m not sure how excited the government employees will be about losing their jobs ? This would be a huge...

    Tree Tube Options

I’ve ordered tree tubes from Mike Hamilton! He’s a good guy, and gets the tubes out fast ! I bought 100 from him for my .. Iowa & Missouri tree projects .

    Cedar tree removal

I cut a bunch of cedar limbs today in Minnesota. Created potential beds, trails and open spots . It was very thick in there and this should help. I forgot to take pictures, but will get a few when I’m done .

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

Can someone post the number of NR deer hunters ? I saw 22k in 2021? It’s a big state with more deer habitat —different than Iowa. I could fully accept a cap on NR, as long as it’s not low like Iowa (6000) . Skip mentioned 15,000? I could see that being acceptable? I have no idea where that...

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

I can speak from experience and lots of years of meetings and discussions on moving the gun season back in Minnesota. It’s very difficult!!! Borderline impossible. Many hunters do not bow hunt and they enjoy seeing a buck chase a doe by their stands while in rut . They hunt in small groups...

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

You make good points . However, I disagree with NR being the issues . In Minnesota, fixing our state has (0) to with nonresidents! It’s not the issue.. it’s all regulations! Minnesota moves gun season back 2 weeks, and eliminates party hunting for bucks (1 buck maximum) and we are a powerhouse...

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

You have to know the market ? If they think they’ll get $600 a tag and guys will wait three years… good luck ! They have to move the gun season back 2 weeks first, and possibly go to one buck tag, so the results improve. The barrage of rifles is a concern too … NR are about 4th or 5th of...

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

This is just not right at all . Anyone that supports this is asking for real problems . Limiting the portion of the hunting season during which NR can hunt statewide? Is this the rut ? Who would have ever even thought of this ?

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

I would be for moving season back two weeks and (1) bucks limit and Missouri will be a great state. The rest will have very little impact on improving hunting. It’s about the age of the bucks from I’ve seen in Missouri.

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

How does this work, would a Missouri resident then be allowed to hunt on public land in any other states ? Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota? Can we exclude non residents from state owned boat landings? Would we “tariff” them and have reciprocal rules and regulations?

    Cedar bedding along access routes

I would defer to some of the other guys on here. Maybe post a map and they might be able to help. I’m more of a visual guy, I have to see it in person .

    Cedar bedding along access routes

I think trimming cedar limbs so deer can travel through them is a good idea . I plan on doing some of this in next month. How tall are the cedars ?

    Future of CRP

Is it possible (@ $72acre) that he enrolled pasture ? Riparian buffer plan ? That seems awfully low for crop ground !

    Future of CRP

The cap was $300 an acre . I just had some go in at $300/acre for 15 years . Trees—oak, plum, spruce, pine . They will more than likely be there for more than 15 yrs!

    Who is shed hunting?!

Shed hunting with my oldest son & granddaughter… we found a nice one (MN).

    Future of CRP

Yes & that has helped the clarity . They’ve died off some, not as big of a factor !

    Future of CRP

I my area of Minnesota, the lakes are pretty nice, clear . Agricultural runoff can hamper that in “dog” days of August . Sediment basins/catch ponds, CRP, tree buffers all help that . There’s definitely conservation that works—our lake is clearer now than in the 80s/90s… The lakes I live on is...
