Can you expand your planting area? If not, I would go to a clover plot. Fencing off doesn't do anything to help the nutrition of the local herd. Clearly there is a void. Lastly, if you cannot plant more, may be time to take more deer.

September 21st, 2024 Developed into a good stand, happy with the results. Lots of good heads on here, despite the weed pressure. This 4 FT variety headed out over 5 FT easily, going to make the deer work for this food! Already getting a few nibbles in the section closest to the edge...

Lots of cheaper older pull behind drills out there, been in operation a long time. Much better built than any of these new chinavirus drills. Every once in a while there's a used Genesis 3 for a few more bucks out there.

The age structure is definitely "young" compared to the surrounding states of Iowa and Kansas. Gun season during the rut is the #1 cause of this. Many more P&Y / B&C bucks taken from those states, despite our habitat and food being good (or better). The genetics in MO are as good as anyone's...
