IMO - Not knocking your plan, but more money spent on more cheap cameras will just arm you with more cheap cameras failing.. I'd rather have 2 Reconyx cameras than 10 cheap cameras that work some of the time, missing some of the movement and fail on a regular basis. My .02..

All varieties need 6+ hours of sun to really thrive. 50 yards wide is enough to provide close to that for a portion of the planting. If they don't get the sun they need, they will not thrive. And will not get close to the typical height they would in full sun.

Tried a couple of times with a clover mix, no alfalfa ever came up. IMO - I'd seed the traditional route if looking to establish much of a stand.

Fire will kill small cedars. Cedar (live or dead) goes up in flames very easily. Cedar will self prune lower limbs in the shade, losing its cover value. Scattered cedars with access to the sun provide the best benefit.
