    New corn plots

+1. Agree with all the above. Grain Sorghum is very easy to grow, and very drought resistant (It's regularly grown in TX with low annual rainfalls). Gets hit hard in the cold from November to December here in Central MO. Usually mine is gone by January but I only plant about 1.5 acres...

    Deer #’s down statewide???

Agree in my area as well. The majority of does this year never had fawns with them on camera. Our coyote population is extremely high. I have multiple camera pictures of coyotes walking around with fawns in their mouth this past spring.

    Deer #’s down statewide???

I have a few farmers around me that are all for it. Area specific I guess..

    Your best bedding areas?

I appreciate the cover they provide when young. Especially when mixed in with grasses, shrub growth. However, groups of "pole cedars" gotta go! My bad, looks like its actually 762 acres per day.. https://conservation.ok.gov/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Eastern-Redcedar-Invading-the-Landscape.pdf

    Your best bedding areas?

Easy to establish.. lol thanks for the laugh :) I believe the state of OK alone loses something like 480 acres of prairie to cedars per day.

    Deer #’s down statewide???

Will change once they setup bait piles and snipe the area. If they don't get their quota from hunters, that's the next step.

    Deer #’s down statewide???

Interesting topic because numbers in MO have been steadily increasing over the last 5 years. MDC is beside themselves right now.. CWD positives magically appearing where multiple insurance claims for crop damage are happening. Quite the coincidence if you ask me..

Beginning Farmer - No Till Pointers

A split bar on 15” rows makes a great stand of beans.

Beginning Farmer - No Till Pointers

Soil test. My $0.02.. If you don't have a good farming mentor, try beans first year as they are much easier (and less inputs) to grow than corn.

    Native mix ideas?

You likely already have quite a few of those seeds. Lying dormant in your soil ..free of charge. The last couple of years, I've been discing/seeding/packing RWW and RC Big Rock switchgrass. If you plant at the beginning of the warm season, it comes up with a flush of forbes. Can always...

    Switchgrass for access

Agreed.. 20 acres much different scenario than 20 feet :)

    Property assistance

I'd be first seeing if any of the public hunters are hunting your field. It will change your property very quickly. Given the small area, if they're hunting the property boundaries (likely given public), you will have a hard time keeping bucks on your 10 acres of cover. Some will be sloppy...

    Switchgrass for access

With a section that narrow, those tend to be nighttime beds in my experience.

    Garden observation- Swiss Chard

Deer never eat Kale in my plots. But will mow radish, turnips. Its a junk filler as far as I'm concerned..

    Brassicas

Same here in mid MO. I rebroadcasted in early October and I have radish galore in my plot. All decent size too..

    Switchgrass for access

How wide is your screen? I do have deer beds in my sorghum screens from time to time, but on my property these are only utilized at night. Could be proximity to road however. Almost like they feed in the field (6 acres) and rest during periods between feeding right at the food source...

Thoughts on deer prospects this year?

Same going on around me in mid MO. Used to be WW2 on opening morning. Still hear shots, but nothing like it used to be.

    Clover

Thinking about trying that variety due to our droughts the last couple of summers. Good draw for deer?
