I completely get what your saying about the limited access units and I agree. The OTC unit I hunt, I have been to twice and have shot two elk. Granted both were cows, but being a flatlander and using a bow I was ok with that. I did have the herd bull(a300" 6x6) at thirty yards last year two...
Why alternate? I buy a point each year and hunt the same year with a OTC tag. Hunt every year you want to OTC until you have enough points for your desired unit. I just reread what you said, that had me confused with a unit only asking for 1 point. As the unit I'm saving for requires 10 for archery.
My buddy shot a doe on public ground in story county EM and it fell in standing corn. He pulled her out about twenty feet into the open before tagging her. $192 ticket.
I'm going to get a hard map and definitely waterproof it. I will check mytopo.com I found BLM, topo, and herd seasonal home range maps on huntdata.com. If I read it correctly I can have them overlaid and have them printed in 3D.
I'm heading to Colorado bowhunting elk at the end of the month. I have been looking around at different maps and haven't found any one that really stands out above the rest. Do any of you have a preferred site for getting maps from? I need to get one ordered sooner than later.
Good for you! Its little things like that that they will always remember, even though they have no idea you did that for them. Its been 21 years since I took the flight home from basic and I can still remember that trip like it happened yesterday.
I'm looking for some experienced opinions about early season elk calling. I am off to Colorado Sept 1- 10 for a archery hunt. I hunted this unit in 2001 and shot a cow after spotting them and stalking. I know the rut isn't kicking in yet that early, so with that being said... Is there an...
Pay to have the land correctly surveyed and remake the fence. My dad just went through this last fall. Then the neighbor wasn't going to split the cost of the fencing after dad did all the labor himself.
I put my boat in the Des Moines river March 14th for the first time this year. We have gone several times since. We have been doing good on the walleyes running 3 way rigs slow. Some fish on jigs also but the water the last three weeks has been 38.7 degrees. The spawning run will probably...
Here's a fun one! Your house won't drain. Toilet tub sink nothing! I get home from work and the house won't drain at all. I call the drain people and they come snake the line and hit ice. Oh sorry we can't get through that, you need our jet truck to come but that's gonna be $120. Jet truck gets...
Everybody in my neighborhood gives me a hard time for cutting wood all spring. I watch the propane truck keep stopping at their houses and I just look at the wood pile and grin. Furnace hasn't ran all year and she likes it warm so I keep it right at 80 all the time with the wood burner. I feel...
Yes the nishnabotna river is what I was referring to. Southeast of town and south from there is a big group that pushes that entire area. Set up accordingly and you should be good.
I have a taxidermist close to me and know him well. I had him do two of mine and they're not very good at all. By the time you get them back and look at them its to late. I now drive mine out to Omaha. I live 30 minutes northeast of Des Moines. I just took my bow buck to him two weeks ago, and...
