Bought a CVA Wolf for my Grandson last year. Easy to use and easy to clean. Killed his 1st whitetail with it. Came with a Konus scope and case. Seems to be a quality gun, and we have no complaints.
The 1st edition Iowa Trophy Deer record book printed in 1993, has a top shot gun typical of 200 2/8 shot in 1964 by Harold Dickman, and a 197 6/8 typical as the top archery deer shot in 1962 by Lloyd Goad. Sounds like a great deer and congrats on your trophy. There are several giant deer in that...
Was there today. The drought didn't seem to have a negative effect on antler growth in Iowa. Not sure of the number , but there seemed to be more B&C caliber deer than the last 2 years.
249 5/8, 146 2/8, 139 7/8, all with a muzzleloader. Biggest bow kill is 137. Have never kept track of hours hunted, but have 4 days a week off, so I have the opportunity to hunt quite a bit.
GREAT!!! Read on KCRG website, Branstad was involved in a car, deer accident. He'll probably have to rethink the reduction of doe tags. It's way to dangerous for the Gov. to be driving around.
So you're shed hunting on public ground and you find a dead buck. You take the head, throw it in the back of the truck and go home. You just broke the law. You need approval and a tag from your CO to possess that head. My point is, there are a lot of rules and regulations. Do we only complain...
To be in the contest it can be there as late as 11a.m. Sun. morning. I believe the judging is at 3 or 3:30. You also can have it scored without being in the contest but it sounds like they will score the deer in the contest first.
You can have your deer scored and not enter it in the DNR record book. It is up to you. I believe the scorer takes care of that for you. They only update their book a few times a year.
