I can see there might be concern over this rifle hunt. I think what it comes down to is individual landowners must manage their property how they see fit based on numbers, etc. Problem being neighboring landowners may have a vastly different idea of what needs to take place. Feel my pain for...

There are some nice elk there, but like WI for deer.....since there aren't many restrictions on bow tags, there are a lot of people. He who works the hardest in the high country should be rewarded with opportunity....

Does the ribbon / rope or whatever you have around the plot keep the deer out? Do you spray anything onto it as a scent to deter the deer from entering the plot?

Use some climbing sticks and get your camera 20' in a tree, pointing down, overlooking 'their' camera....then you will have a picture of them coming back to put out more apples, check their card, etc....

I agree and also don't mind waiting because of the quality of the hunt....but, as always...every system has flaws. In this case, if numerous people are stacking up points, it changes the system and its results... My 'point' is, that if it gets to the point where multiple, multiple stack...

When you guys say you drew with two or drew with three....are you saying you put in with two (making three points) or put in with three (making four points)? I put in this year with two preference points (making three), applied for zone 5......and did not draw.... Wish IA had a list like WI...

Probably a redundant topic, but is there any data on recent years of the success of the NR deer drawing. All I can find is data from the 2008 drawing on the IA dnr site. Sitting on two points, so three once I apply this year...and sitting here wondering if my odds of drawing are good or...

Where is there info that NR tags are being increased? haven't seen anything about that....im a NR and would gladly wait 5 yrs to hunt in IA, rather than increase in tags
