    Don’t get me started there

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

Absolutely agree- I had been very vocal since youth tags went that way. I’ve got 2 little girls, I want them to understand hunting is a choice, and it’s not a last option to just do it when it works. I want them to know that not all seasons end with a deer. That’s part of the hunt. My first...

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

Yeah- it’s hard for a lot of us to understand it, but there are people who shoot deer just to fill the tag and then- “oh I thought he was bigger, if I wouldn’t have shot him someone else would” etc etc. I think LOT tags won’t be the loss of revenue- I mean they aren’t free correct? I still have...

    Giant Sunflowers for rubbing posts

It works wonders. I may have a source for seeds in large quantity- but typically any farm store has pound or less of them

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

No- once registered, you cannot register for more pieces/properties. You simply hunt all of your pieces- which is where some of that gets real gray. So I am a landowner with multiple pieces- I can hunt all of them. I cannot register for my dads pieces for example, but I also can’t use my...

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

My opinion- should only be listed as owner/family. The tenant is where it gets used and abused way more than family in my opinion. For example- a guy used to be the “tenant” for his dad’s piece. But they both claimed LOT. Dad as owner, son as tenant. Just so they each could get 3 tags a year

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

What they should do- I’m general- the floating tag costs “$insert number” regular tags are normal. Idk- I think floating tag should be more money- even for a LOT

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

I don’t think they have changed- just they now float?

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

I was thinking that it’s going to be easier to kill the deer you’re after- always gonna have a valid tag? I don’t know

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

This is the start of all tags floating like youth- I’ve been against it since it started (even for youth- yes I’m a bad guy) once it started for youth then everyone with kids say “how great it was to pick and choose”… now look what it will turn in to. If you want to hunt, you make the choices...

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

The only thing I saw different is the tags are floating maybe? I didn’t see anything saying a NR could?

    Bird population in your area

I didn’t hunt (haven’t for like 15 years). Numbers have been low, we didn’t trap much. Last year we saw a jump after I trapped- and trapped heavily. I’m to the point right now where I’m hardly catching anything. I’ve got hen turkeys and pheasants both nesting in and around the property- watched...

    Planting sunflowers

Yes- I run 30 inch rows on a 7000 planter. My dad runs a 7100 on 30s and no problems either. Oddly- I have found plenty of sheds in them after season. But the flip side, once they find them growing they will eat them in a hurry too.

    Planting sunflowers

Yes it does work in a corn planter- I do about 2 acres a year.

Our contracts are 1% can be plots/mowed is all on one farm. Other farm is 0- and have to keep trees/shrubs out. So far- we’ve been checked the last 3 years (unsure how often they usuall my check- but before that it was like 5 years before we saw anyone)

    Pheasant rebound…

Best thing I’ve done- is I’ve let my broody hens (chickens) hatch pheasant eggs and left them be outside. Mom teaches the things we can’t teach in a pen- far better survival rates in my experience.

FOREST RESERVE DISCUSSION & DEBATE!! (Renamed)

Mennonite’s around me are taking out groves/wood lots for dirt cheap if they get the wood. Then they mill it, sell the wood, and make their money there. Being cheaper than everyone else has gotten them tons of woods/fencerows/creeks. My neighbor has them taking 10 acres of scattered pieces- some...
