    Heater body suit

HBS vs. Arctic Shield Boot Insulators My biggest problem is my feet getting cold. I can usually stay fairly warm other than that. Does anyone have a "comparison" between using the insulators for my feet vs. the HBS. I've thought about getting both. For consideration, will be hunting...

Your craziest hunt that no one believes...?

Dad's story When I was a kid, too young to hunt, my dad pulled off a "Babe Ruth called shot." I'll explain: Dad had gone to his neighbor that shotgun hunted a different season to borrow some gear. Neighbor asked if he needed more slugs, giving him a hard time that he'd need a lot of shots...

    Ethics:

Honestly, I don't think anyone is "whining." I do think that there are some in the shotgun-party-hunting groups that do it the wrong way. Glad to hear that your group does it the right way. Good luck and be safe.

I'm not saying that's what we do...but it comes up in conversation. We talk about "what-if" situations, so to speak. I prefer to let those "tweeners" walk and take a chance they'll not get shot by someone else - shoot a doe instead is my philosophy. But it always seems to come up: "why...

    Ethics:

This is a good topic, because it does come up annually. I've done both - grew up driving deer in southern Iowa with a large group that did it right: no CB's, no trucks (other than for hauling out deer), no trespassing, and no poaching/shooting with illegal weapons. And it was safe - at...

    Any news on Hermanns

do a search on the iowa court system for Bradley Herrmann (in the "Trial Court Case Search" area. that should answer a few questions...it will take a while to wade thru all the traffic tickets, but there have been a few "issues" that will make you wonder how he can run a "guide service."...

    November Anterless season

not everyone is a bow hunter. i have enjoyed an extra weekend the past 2 years to get out and hunt. haven't harvested anything, but have had a good time. haven't "screwed up" any of our regular season spots either. pretty much just hid by a tree and hoped to catch one moving.

    Bo knows hunting

good to see a well-known personality giving hunting (and hunting in iowa!) a good name. that's what its all about.

    Question for wjs

Re: my 2 cents agree...more doe tags doesn't mean more does are harvested. the biggest problem is making the harvesting of does more popular with hunters, expecially with the desire to kill 'monster bucks' (that is a generalization, i know). i think they made the thanksgiving season as a...

    Question for wjs

my 2 cents i think the reason for the rifle season, and thanksgiving season were to make the antlerless hunting more appealing. the bottom line is that more does need to be taken, and the DNR is trying to do so in any way possible. the poaching question is inevitable. there will be poachers...

    Options for 2006?

DNR - doesn't want to lose revenue, and i don't have a problem with that. hunter - doesn't want to pay more / higher fees well, i think the answer to both questions is more tags, at lower cost.

UPDATE 'Little-Ol-Buck' was born on 12-8-04, weighing in at 7 lbs, 5 oz, and 19.75 in long. I am one proud Papa, and am looking forward to sharing the outdoors with him in a few years. Although I missed the opening weekend of 2nd season, it sounds like Momma's going to let me out this coming...

    tresspassing...be careful

a buddy of mine hunts 1st shotgun season here in IA, and his group had an issue with other hunters being on some prime ground they were to hunt. according to him, there was a heated exchange between the 2 parties. just wanted to say for those of you/us that may experience this...please, please...

i just dont get people that ruin hunting

no sense in violence but at least it didn't end up like the wisconsin situation. however, where do you draw the line with trespassers? not being a landowner, i don't know how i would handle it. i'm sure it is very frustrating, especially when someone puts in the time to scout, manage, and...

    Poachers Caught

Re: huntnfish i didn't mean to infer that you were 'pro-poaching.' if you took it that way, i apologize. i, in fact, did read your post on TIP case threat. i do agree with what you say about 'leaving it to the law enforcement officials,' at least for the 'enforcement' part of it. however...

    Poachers Caught

huntnfish first off, this is a hunting site and message board, so you are probably going to find that most of us are against poaching. probably one of the 'ten commandments' of hunting.... second, no one is trying to ruin a poacher's life. but they are the ones that have to deal with the...
