Fall droughts seem to spell disaster for me. Maybe the heat makes it more deadly in those conditions? All my bad outbreaks have coincided with a hot dry early fall.
People have been screeching about the 80s coming back for at least 25 years. If I had listened to those people, I wouldn't own a thing today. Even if it all blows up tomorrow, I'm still way better off than if I had spent my life paralyzed by fear.
My first several plots went pretty well as far as I remember. The late summer droughts and grasshopper plagues of the past few years have humbled me a bunch though.
I agree, I don't understand what the reason was for it. I didn't know anyone who was asking for floating lo tags. I don't think it was even on the radar of most land owners .

I love the idea, can it be sealed though? Does it have a constant water flow to keep the pond replenished? Are there similar ponds in the area that successfully hold enough water to keep fish?
I know of several ponds built that don't stay full.
