Shot a banded mallard a few years back on the Kankakee/Yellow river area in NW Indiana.
Certificate came back stating that the bird was banded in
Stuggart(sp?) Arkansas. It was reported to be 8 years old.
(buddies said he was old, slow and partially blind...only way I was able to hit him.)
I received an underarmour shirt last december as a gift. It's kind of hard to get used to as it is definetly form fitting. I'll have to say though that it allowed me to hunt longer while in the stand and during shotgun, where I cover some serious acerage and sweat like a pig, is where I really...
Hunted yesterday 1/2 before sunrise to 1/2 after sunset. I got in 1hr early and drug "Mrs. doe Pee" 15 yds from my shooting window about 60 yds out down 3 primary travel routes. Saw 10 deer, 8 being does. Only one buck followed the scent. He was a basket rack missing one side. Passed on...
If any of you have been in your stand for any length of time over the last few weeks you've inevitably witnessed does traveling through, later to be followed by a slow walking buck, oblivious to anything but the scent before him (sometimes going the wrong direction). In order to increase my...
I've used tink's and other scents with mixed results over the years. On occassions I've had them bee-line right to the scent. Other times, I've had deer get to the scent and jump 5' in the air when they got a whiff. Over the last five years I have been using Buck Magic. The does come into my...
Leaving right after work tonight for duck camp. We're hunting the Mississippi backwaters near Dubuque Sat. and Sun. Had a great 1st. season.
It's getting harder to decide what to do, Bow stand or Duck blind!?
Everyone have a great (safe) weekend!
Dr. D.
Sunday Morning, 6:38am. He was chasing a doe. He stopped 18 yards, sharp quartering away and put his nose right in my scent. Arrow went through his liver into his right lung (no pass through). He went about 65 yards straight down hill (of course!) and piled up. He has a respectable rack...
IowaBruce,
I had a mixed bag yesterday. Everything from a 10 pt. 140 class buck which bedded 60 yrds below me (all day) a bunch of baskets and forks, a heavy bodied 8 pointer with a huge swollen neck and 2 pairs of button bucks. Not a single mature doe! A lot of sparing.
I jumped the 10...
I've experimented with numerous attractants, from tinks, mrs doe pee, to interdigital. I found a product last season which out-performed anything I've ever used. The product was called "Buck Magic." I found it on-line at ***** I liked the concept, but was hesitant to try it. I am very...
