    Contractor

I have done it for over 10 years now (sometimes it feels like a blessing, other times it feels like a curse! LOL). There is plenty of work if you are good at what you do. The biggest obstacle is investing in the equipment you will need to do the job right. I am well north of 140K in equipment to...

    roundup ready soybean question

Yes they will be resistant to RoundUp. Spray them with 2-4d at a rate of 6 oz. per acre and it will smoke them.

    DNR cutting standing trees ?

That is timber stand improvement. You can research what it is all about here or Google it. In a nutshell, it increases the production and growth of desirable, or "crop" trees by eliminating crown competition. It is a fantastic thing to do for your timber whether you are managing for a healthy...

    Which Muzzle loader

I had the exact opposite experience with Knight that bkcrrtnps had. I could not get mine to shoot no matter the load. Plus, the cleaning is SO MUCH easier with a break action ML or Omega design. The Knight was a royal pain to clean and I could not use Blackhorn in it. I know they have a good...

    Which Muzzle loader

CVA Optima V2, Blackhorn 209, and Barnes MZ Expanders will shoot better than me. 90 grains is my sweet spot. You will need to experiment with any ML as they are all unique in what they want to digest properly. I could not get any other bullet to shoot well out of mine though and most everyone I...

Failed brassicas to rye, need input

If you are just planting grain rye only, without all the other components of a normal cereal mix, I would just spray it and broadcast. It grows incredibly well by just broadcasting. Put it on heavy and you will have a green carpet. We have been lucky down here. Our brassicas plots are doing...

    Rinehart 100 this weekend

I guess I will be the dissenting voice on this. My 15 year old son and I went to this event for the first time and shot the N American range Saturday and African range Sunday. We absolutely loved it. We did not think it was very crowded at all. Temps were about perfect although the bugs were a...

    Jim Shockey's Uncharted

Great show. Best I have seen compared to almost all the others. I like how he talked about the hunter/gatherer culture that thrives, happily, in Papua New Guinea. Proof positive that more stuff won't make you happy. I also like the fact that they are not afraid to acknowledge Jesus during the show.

    Scramble time

Yeah could be a combo of different soil types (clay crusting over is mark of death to sorghum that has not emerged yet) and the lack of heat that Hardwood mentioned. A lot of my sorghum plots have been slow this year too and I got them all in May 16th. They are off to the races now though.

    Scramble time

If you sprayed your plot with Dual II Magnum or Parallel before planting and it got real wet right after planting, it may have caused that injury to your sorghum. I had a few client's plots look like what you described in areas that were very wet right after planting. 90% of those plots...

    water?

SE Iowa is in perfect condition. Perfect rains all spring and summer so far. I jumped a hen turkey with 12-15 poults two days ago on my big farm near West Point. One of my clients saw 20 or so quail poults the other day near Mediapolis.

    Ruger SR

I have a SR1911 Commander and it is one of the best guns out of the box I have ever owned. I had some custom work done on it (trigger job/ambi safety) and it is absolutely rock solid. Have put about 500 rounds through it and zero FTE or FTF. Great looking pistol too. It carries very nice in a...

    Drill

I have run a Great Plains 3P606Nt for the last eight years with my business. They are fantastic. It takes a while to figure out proper planting depths and seeding rates but they are sturdy and I have had almost no problems with mine. The downside is cost. A new one will set you back about 20K...
