    HS - Forbes family?

I remember those videos!!!! I always watched “from iowa” & would go “oh no, don’t shoot that buck!!!!” ;). Rifling good up & comers. My in laws used to live in kirksville & I went to a bunch of farms around that area…. That was like 20 years ago and how many times I would be there & go...

Your favorite power source for trail cams

Solar for sure. The only issues are fairly obvious…. Getting good sun & then having a system that’s tight & doesn’t tip + cords that can’t be chewed through.

January doe population management (shed buck season)

Common sense was heard & enacted. It helps when leadership has common sense to begin with. Then they hear from hunters & conservation groups. Zero doubt this was critically needed. Things can change. Government can improve & do the right things. Be thankful we live in iowa- the land of...

Very good meeting. IWILL is a go. Commitment there. Habitat, improving hunting & growing opportunities- a go. We had a very good discussion & made some progress on him understanding iowa is the last great special place, it’s hurting & it’s always looking to be exploited. All sorts of...

    Water tank question?

250+. If find clay (who can’t in iowa?!?) - 60 mins in skid steer…. 2,000 gallons I bet

Has anyone planted Miscanthus this time of year (Summer)?

Ya- I’d wait for sure if that’s an option. I totally agree with above too if someone had viable rhizomes on hand- might as well do it. If not - hold off.

Connected again with both sides in last week. Meeting with both & I’ll represent Iowawhitetail the best I can ;). So fire away with issues u think are critical, need most attention & are realities to fix or improve. This is what I rattled off but please add to it. Even if you “traditionally...

Mineral mix for tick control on wildlife?

Garlic & sulfur both do. Deer put out odor and taste that ticks do not like.

    Supplemental Feeding

This plus 25% corn I add these 2 below. Vasodilator & probiotic & it’s not much $ to add at all. Can also see above has some garlic in it. If u get ballpark of this- be rocking With all of the above stuff…. I think it’s like $475 a ton delivered to my bulk bin.

    2,000 lbs feeders for sale

Fairly easy to get them to any location really. I know guys going around the whole state. Just like above- we got a western iowa connection to get em there. Heck - these can also fit in truck bed or little trailer too

    2,000 lbs feeders for sale

Selling these here for folks on IW at my cost. I got a semi & have extras. Made sense to take a full semi. I had them shipped from TX so this is with shipping & everything to my door (which I get a steal on these so passing on to u). I have 2 other brands…. One was way over $2k shipped & I...

    Oaks next to eachother

As many pics as u can keep posting helps. Don’t cut unless dormant BTW. If u cut any…. Only cut the ones that are growing horribly & unhealthy. Let the rest go. The pics above look great! I’d leave the rest for now unless one is totally funky. Here’s the key…. Pummel the junk around them...

Current State of the Land Market

Great stuff. Region or county seems to change things. What I’m seeing is this: “top notch” anything - hunting or tillable…. Very little for sale & sells fast & high. As u go down in quality …. How fast it sells and price goes with it. To the other end: low quality, needs lot of work, etc-...

    Earth Ponds

This was my first time trying. Took maybe 45 mins. Super easy. Steep & all clay. It’s super clean to this day. It has some clay color to it but when u look close- it’s super clean. It has all grass above it so it’s not like nasty stuff fills it. It might not look like it but this is pry a...

    Earth Ponds

I would use a rubber made over them. Way less $. I have water holes I’ve dug & different types of tubs. I personally like the ones I dig better. I make them all clay, deep & steep. I honestly don’t worry much about midges. They are clean & full of life (not sludge). & they hold...

    Best Box Blind

Diamond is newer so a lot of folks won’t have experience with em. I’m extremely impressed. I’ve also heard good things on grizzly but I haven’t tried one.

    Acorns to Oaks!

I did both chinkapin & dwarf chinkapin in tubes. Was a bit concerned about DCO but both did just fine. This is a standard chinkapin on its 3rd growing season.
