    My thoughts on leasing

P.S. Those lease rates we pay are on the rural lower eastern shore of Maryland. On the upper shore and closer to Baltimore, I've heard of 300-500 acre farms going for $25,000 PER SEASON. It's only going to get worse here, in fact, I'm trying to talk my wife into moving to southern Iowa or...

    My thoughts on leasing

Some very impassioned and good points on both sides of this issue. Here's my perspective as a Maryland hunter. When I first started hunting in the late 80's (I think 1989 was my first year with a gun of my own), my hunting club hunted land we had permission for. By the mid 90's, in order to...

    Need some help

What about getting some pine trees and planting yourself a 10-15 yard pine thicket along that road? Pines grow up pretty quick, and within 2-3 years, the deer can bed in those pines. After 15 years or so the pines will be high and there might not be as much cover though.

    Bear Rescue

Pretty cool! One thing though, whoever took that last pic has 1000X more guts than I do, unless they had a LOOOOOOOOOOONG zoom.

    SF2127 Non-resident hunting

Let me ask this, actually two questions: 1) Do you all expect this bill to pass? and 2) When will this bill either pass or not pass (tabled, voted down, buried in committee, etc)? Is there a set time limit on this kind of stuff?

Looking for info on Iowa public hunting

Thanks for the offer, I may just take you up on it when the time comes. Another question, is that area in Zone 5 or 6? I thought it was 6, but I was talking to a fellow earlier who's familiar with the area, and he said he thought it was zone 5. He seemed to think that I could get drawn in 5...

Looking for info on Iowa public hunting

Morning all, new poster here. My name is Bill Drain, and I'm a 32 year old hunter (among other things, husband, father, etc :))from Maryland. I live in a town called Stevensville, which is on an island on the Eastern shore, hence my user name, esmd. I had been planning on a trip out West in...

    SF2127 Non-resident hunting

First post on this site, hope I don't ruffle too many feathers. I get what you're saying, I do. And if I could manage to make two hunting trips to Iowa in a year, I would. But there's just not enough vacation and not enough money to do that. About the most can manage is a late winter/early...
