North zone goose opener was on 9/20. I got out to the place we usually do pretty good and I was stoked that Tubbs would be on his first hunt since tearing his CCL last October. Unfortunately we didn’t kill any birds but Tubbs didn’t seem to mind.
Central zone goose opener was this last weekend and we got out both days. Saturday we hunted a field running traffic as we knew the geese were feeding in another field close by. We managed to scratch a 3 man limit with a bonus band. 4 year old bird banded in Kellogg Iowa
Sunday I had an absolute giant feed lined up but a bunch of guys backed out and it’s probably a good thing they did because the field must have been hunted the evening before. We did manage to kill our two man limit while most the geese avoided our field like the plague.
Feel free to share your hunts. I’ll most likely be out for some ducks for the first time this year this weekend. Maybe some goose hunts too, we shall see.
