A mock scrape question

I’m a broken record but live in Arizona so I only get June to do prep work on the Ohio properties. I’m making some mock scrapes using a platform in a wide V shape attached to the top of a cedar post and may try some pine as well. I’ll be running two to three branches extending off the platform held down by u bolts in front and heavy gauge wire on back.

Question is, if I do this in June, would u leave your branches thru season or do I need to have someone refresh branches come late August to have fresh branches? I was also thinking adding some smaller split vines like skips set up on his u tube coming off the branches.

My issue is, if I don’t do it I run into issues having someone assist me with this and getting branches at right height etc…..

Thoughts?

Anyone have any new mock setups they can share?

I've found dead limbs can work for a licking branch but for an actual scrape, i want a fresh branch with leaves, even if they are dead.
