Albino Deer Killed by Car in Southern Iowa

FAIRFIELD (AP) - An albino deer spotted around Fairfield for about three years has been hit and killed by a car.
It happened last Friday near Jefferson County Park.
According to Shawn Morrissey of the county's conservation board, it's illegal to hunt a white deer in Iowa. He says because the animal was hit by a car in an uncontrollable accident, the driver isn't in trouble.
Morrissey says white deer apparently "aren't any smarter than the brown ones about jumping in front of cars.''
Officials wanted to send the doe's carcass to a taxidermist, but the collision caused too much damage. The hide couldn't be used either.
