Albino deer law

This law is the perfect example of how our legislative system works. A few people wanted this law to protect one deer. They must have been well connected to their lawmakers and made a big deal of it. Even with no biological reasons to protect it and I'm sure that particular is long gone, that law is still on the books. See guys, legislators will listen to a group and pass laws based on only the squeaky wheel rule. Then we're stuck with it forever. Join the IBA and pay attention to what's being proposed in Des Moines or don't complain when we're stuck with laws that don't make much sense.

I just heard about this law on the news last night. A person from NE Iowa is in deep s#!t right now for shooting a white deer last weekend and not knowing that law. And you are dead on, it was initially enacted because one group of citizens wanted to protect a white deer that lived in town. Un fricken believable!

Yes, the law say's you can't shoot a predominately white deer, meaning over 50% white.

I'm guessing the law was "spun" just a little bit to include more than just albino deer.
