I was driving back from Spirit Lake this afternoon. The snow cover sure brings out the wildlife, pheasants, turkey & lots of deer.
Knowing that gun season is on, I kept my eyes open these past 3 days. I was driving through Peterson about 4 PM & slammed on the brakes through town. There were 8 does headed back to the timber on the north side of town. Last time I got surprised like that was when a cow was running loose in Smithland a couple years ago!
I started counting deer from then on & came up w/ 73 does & 1 buck. Mainly around Peterson & Cherokee. The 1 buck was alone, probably tired after a hard day of running.
