Almost let one fly this morning, a 14" spike,maybe a little longer than that. A true spike no broken tines, no brows. Grunted him in and he taught me a lesson on carelessness. It was warm this AM and I went up the tree steps with no gloves on. He got 3 foot from the tree smelled the step and turned inside out getting out of there.
Nice little reminder that the little details are the ones that haunt you. Granted I would have shot before he got to the tree,but he did nail me in a heart beat.
