B&C did not hold a training class/workshop this year due to their convention. P&Y held one in salt lake and I think they may have had another. Getting certification is based on need for measurers in your area and the some other factors.
Some states have programs to certify measurers for big game animals within their state. For instance, in WI there is the WI buck and Bear club. After 1 year of membership, hands on training by certified measures, state, P&Y and B&C, you are eligible to take the written exam and hands on test of 2 whitetail racks and one bear skull. One you have successfully demonstrated your ability, your certified within the sate. MN has a program as well but I'm not sure about how they run it. I think it is called Measurers of MI (MOM) In Iowa, I don’t know that there is anything at the state level. If you are interested, start by contacting the P&Y office. You can then get an app. At that time, ask what they would recommend you do in order to start getting active in measuring. No guarantee, but if you can demonstrate your interest and get sponsorship by another measurer, it will help.
