For those of you that have been on the site for a few years probably remember when we use to have a Big Buck contest. It was always a lot of fun but difficult for us to really make it good for everyone, basically we didn't have the financial means to give out great prizes.

Well not anymore, we have partnered up with Central Iowa Archery and we are gonna have a dandy Big Buck Contest.

Limb Chicken - 1999 Big Buck

Here is what we have so far.....

- Buck must be taken in Iowa during the 2002 hunting season.
- Two Categories (Gun or Bow)
- $10 entry fee post marked prior to season opener (use below address) or
sign up at Central Iowa Archery & Sporting - 5201 NE 14th St Des Moines, IA
50313
- Include Name, Address, Phone #, e-mail address, Category (Gun or Bow)
- Call Kale or Jason at 515-266-3912 with questions (should we give the option
to e-mail Iowawhitetail?)
- CIA would like to reserve the right to inspect all winners before prizes
are distributed
- Prizes are to be received at Central Iowa Archery and Sporting
- Postage for prizes paid by entrants
- Winners are determined by Highest Gross Antler Score
- A score sheet or examination by Central Iowa Archery must be completed for
Trophy entry
- Photo's will be posted on Iowa Whitetail & photo's and scores will be
posted at Central Iowa Archery & Sporting

How about an out of Iowa big buck contest fro non residents, just for fun, no prizes. I think it'd be great to log on and see everyone's trophies. They're all trophies if they are in the eye of the hunter.ust a thought.
 
You can be from anywhere and enter, but the buck needs to be a Iowa whitetail. A few years back we had a gent from Missouri harvest a nice buck in SE Iowa. Hope this helps explain the contest.
 
hey tony, i signed up for the contest at CIA on tuesday night, but no one asked me to specify gun or bow. just for the record, i intended to enter the archery contest. thanks, thegeneral.

You're up against the best. This site, I'm convinced, has the most dedicated most knowledgeable deer hunters in the country! Look at the photo album. Great hunters, great bucks.

We haven't seen that any of the contestants have scored. We will be sure to update everyone and post pictures once they start coming in.

Just curious if any of you guys know who won the archery and gun categories in the big buck contest. The last post on this was from the end of October. It would be interesting to see who won and how big the deer were.
 
OK..... What am I missing? This isn't for this year anymore.... or is it!?
