Bow Slings

I am looking at the possibility of trying out a bow sling this year, anyone have any experience good or bad with the various makes and models out there?

I bought the Primos one last year, used it a couple of times when carrying a decoy. I guess I just got tired of messing w it and quit using it. I need to figure out a better way to carry the decoy.

That is what I am wondering... if the novelty of the idea wears off... is it really useful? I think it might just be easier to carry... besides, how easy is a sling to use while wearing a backpack/stand?

while i was at the wisconson show this spring i bought a real nice bow sling made of rubber works really good but cant think of the name of it

Shredder - thanks for the suggestion, it is another reason to justify buying the Badland's 2200 pack. I have been using the Monster Fanny w the Lone Wolf Hang On and four sticks. The stand rubs top of the fanny pack and wore through the fabric last year. I see many of you here use the Cabela's and Badlands packs and am going to give it a try.

One advantage of the bow sling was that it provided some protection for the cams, for instance when lowering into mud in nasty weather.

I bought the Primos sling last fall but returned it when it didn't work worth a darn on my Legacy. It may be ok on a bow with limbs that aren't very parallel.

Looked at the HS sling but not sure about leaving straps around my limbs. Rather just carry it in at this point.

Here is my deke on the back of my badlands 2200 NE...packs real nice

Maybe Shredder is mad, it looks like he may be missing an arrow out of his quiver too. Maybe he missed a big one right before this picture was taken and that is why his eyes are red.

Another idea for carrying the deke is to go to the hardware store and buy one of those big D-shaped handles (like you would use for a heavy door). Bolt the D-handle to the underbelly of the decoy and then carry it upside down. Just make sure to use washers so the bolts don't pull through. You may need to remove the head, ears, and antlers during transport, but this makes the akward thing a little more manageable.

I purchased a goose decoy bag/backpack. It is camoflage so nobody can see the decoy if you want to leave it in the bushes. Plus it is made of water resistant fabric so it should last for many years. Got mine on clearance at Wally World for $10, works great!

I want to see how you strap a buck decoy, a doe decoy, the lone wolf hang on, 4 climbing sticks and your bow on the back pack

His lips look a little red also, is that lipstick he is holding in his right hand?

Gets a little heavy that way but it can be done Danno. I usually pack the decoy in to existing stand sites to hunt over. The lone wolfs comes along when I go into stealth mode
