Buck Forage Oats

I have used them in stand alone and in mixes with with sucess. Cold tolerance is not the best, but that is expected with oats. In fact I had a bag left from last year I planted yeaterday in a mix with rye.

How cold of weather can they take before they die off?

Generally a very hard killing frost will do them in. (BFO or any oats)

Have planted BFO the past 4 years. I've had great success with them. I planted them this year a little early. the last week in July along with turnips. Went and checked them this past weekend and it looks like somebody went through the plot with a lawnmower set at 5". The deer are pounding them right now, hopefully they wont eat them too fast before fall. Last year during the 'lull' I sat over the oats on three occasions and saw a minimum of 25 deer per hunt. On one hunt I saw 7 different bucks 4 were 2 1/2 year old or better. This year those bucks might not be so lucky.
