One deer hunter was killed and at least two others injured in separate accidents on the opening weekend of shotgun season in Iowa.
A deer slug fired by another hunter struck Rodney L. Schippers, 44, of Bussey in the head Saturday in the southwest corner of Mahaska County.
The fatal accident happened about 11 a.m.
"We are still piecing together how this occurred," said Rod Slings, recreation and safety program supervisor for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources....
