CALAMUS- A Clinton man sustained minor injuries during a deer hunting accident during opening weekend of Iowa's first deer hunting shotgun season.
Dale Rowson, 53, was taken to Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton following the accident around 11 a.m. today. Reports indicated the incident happened near Calamus in western Clinton County. State conservation officers said Rowson was hunting with a group of five when a deer slug apparently ricotched off the ground, grazed a pant leg on his right leg and entered his left leg calf.
Authorities said the injury was not life threatening. The incident is under investigation, but it appears to be accidental and citations are not likely.
