COOKER!!!!!!!! Saskatchewan Monster

Yesterday my friend Doug, another teacher from here killed "Ernie". Ernie is a buck I've been searching for for 4 years and have never seen, the only way I knew of him was from his sheds. Ernie is the name of the landowner that has been picking up massive main frame 4x4 sheds in his haystacks for 4 winters. Even the first set back in Feb 02 had bases over 6", g2's over 13 and a drop tine. He hasn't changed much over the years, gaining the odd kicker here and there. Smitty found him about 1/2 mile from where I found his right shed last winter. He was about to shoot a mid 150's 5x5 that was with a hot doe when the old guy came along. Pics do not do this deer justice, it has the most impressive 4x4 frame I've ever seen, both h1's are 7 2/8", longest tine is 14", inside spread is 22", drop tine of 7" and kickers for character. It grosses 191 and change. The deer would look alot bigger if Smitty wasn't 6 foot 5. I'll admit I feel a bit of envy

, I have been trying to find him for awhile now but I'm glad it was Smitty that got him. He is a good friend, good hunter who puts in alot of time and does things right. Congrats to Smitty on taking Ernie.

Here is a picture to prove that the big buck for Doug wasn't a fluke. This is the buck he shot in 2003 with a smokepole. Right g2 was 15", it grossed 181 off a 4x4 frame as well. I know it doesn't look that big held back way behind yesterday's monster. Any similarities in the racks??

Last night while we were celebrating with a few drinks we were sure crying the blues about our jobs and having only 1 day a week to hunt this time of year, he made his day count yesterday!!

Man what more could a guy ask for in a buck, he has everything. Congrats to Doug and it's too bad you never crossed paths with him Kaare.

What a HOG!!! Kaare, do I remember seeing a photo of that buck's right shed antler posted earlier this year in the shed forum? Something about the brow tine reminds me of that large four-point side you found ...

That's him longspurs, after 4 yrs of big sheds the first time I ever laid eyes on him was when he was dead.

Truly an awesome deer ... definitely the end of an era in terms of those sheds! I'm sure there's another elusive monster out there that will keep you going ... it won't be long now! Be sure to tell your friend congratulations!!

Here's a field pic of the bruiser main frame 8 Doug is holding the skull plate of. Pic isn't great but it was a HUGE mid October buck, the neck was 37".

GOOD LORD, A 37" NECK!!! That's bigger that my waist line by 4 inches! How in the heck do you guys load those beasts in the back of your trucks?

Good luck finding a form for mounting that brute!
