decoy tail placement

I am using a taxidermy tail on my decoy this year. I was wondering what position I should place the tail in. Some have said it should be straight up for greater visibility however isnt this an alarm postion. Any experiences would be appreciated .

I always let it droop down. A little breeze and deer can see it moving when they get up close.I'm with you I think raising it up would make the deer wonder what the heck is wrong or that deer is taking the longest dump I've ever seen.

I set mine about straight out. If your using it as a buck it has a more aggressive appearence straight out than if it is down which would look more submissive. With a doe decoy, tail out would give an appearence of a doe ready to breed. I agree that tail up would be alarming. I guess it would depend on what body language you want your decoy to display.
