Driving me nuts!!!

To make a long story short I always have my rangefinder clipped to my bino's or jacket. Well last week I got to a stand that I haven't been in for a while and reach into where it is normally clipped and no rangefinder:confused:. I looked everywhere I had been in the previous day since I had last used it. I didn't find it. I'm wondering if there would be any metal that a metal detector would be of any use? I leave for Montana on the 24th and don't want to buy another one if I don't have to. Please advise any ideas before I fry up some burgers and have a few beverages for the boys and we have to take the woods by storm..... My wife still thinks I just misplaced it somewhere and it will turn up, because I have the flashlight that usually with it. I keep looking through my pack and truck hoping that it will magicly appear, but I was never any good at pulling rabbits out of my hat......Thanks guys!
