Finally got to trap some...

The boys got out this past weekend and got a beaver & some coon. It's been quite a busy fall for us with sports, harvest, working and all and they haven't really trapped much but we finally got out earlier last week to set some traps. This year I pretty much turned the trapping all over to the boys. I just tag along to help them set the traps. Other than that they do all the scouting and pick and prep the spots. They are only running eight traps total right now so they didn't do to bad for a nights work. They have been saving there trapping money and buying a few traps here and there to get some more. We are by no means in it for the money. $48.00 is what they got for everything in the pics. It's just another reasont to get outdoors and romp around the creek and the pond.

Love it! Those look like some nice fat coons. Good to see the kids get excited about trapping. Man, I still remember feeling like a kid in a candy store when going out to run the line.
 
Man, that brings back some great memories with my dad...we used to trap like it was going out of style when I was in elementary school...well, it pretty much went out of style after the $8.00 per muskrat fell to $0.50 the next year!

Never did it for the money...just loved being out there!

Dude those pics are money! Some of those coons are FAT! Good hides there! Do your boys skin them too? 6 critters out of 8 traps and no skunks or possums? I'm pretty sure I've never had an average like that! Love the 220 mark across the one your boy on the right is holding....that guy made it half way into the trap! Perfect! Some of my best memories as a kid are from the trapline. It was like Christmas every morning....and still is when I run them. I can't wait till my little guy can join me on a line.
 
congrats young fellas! brings back memories, what are coons gong for now ?back in the 80s, they were like 40.00 . its all great, spending time in the outdoors, does the money really matter?

That is great, awesome pictures! Always wanted to get into trapping, same thought as you...not about the money but another reason to get out and enjoy the outdoors!
