For the last few weeks I have been patterning one particular buck. Each time I've been out I've adjusted accordingly. I have him figured out finally. He comes into this large alfalfa field 7 minutes before close each night I've been out this past week... and from the same trail too. I felt tonight was the night to move in for the ambush as the wind was perfect. I got out a little later than normal so I only had 2 hours. I get to the area that I have been hunting regularily on private land. I started dragging scent from the trail to my shooting lanes and all of a sudden I here a "Pssss". I look up and in this old wooden stand that is on the 'property line' there is a hunter. My father and I have exlusive rights to this whole tract and so I am a bit pissed that all of a sudden there is a guy hunting here. Not but two weeks ago my father and the landowner were walking the property with my mom and the farmer's wife and the farmer pointed out that wooden stand and how it was on his property and he was not happy about it. My adrenalin gave me the guts to go talk to the guy as calmly as I could and he turned the entire thing around and tried to make me feel as if I was the intruder... but I was the one with the permission, plus I had been hunting this area religiously the past few weeks. I tried to be polite but he did not take it that way at all. I hate any unfriendly confrontation like this. I ended the conversation as politely as possible and told him I would go hunt a couple hundred yards away, although he could see I was steaming. He said something along the lines of "Well you have that whole 80 acres to hunt and I'm hunting this little 10 acre plot so why do you have to hunt right here?" I didn't want to tell him about my buck and his scheduled arrival, of course. He felt he was right and I felt I was right. I don't want to go and make a stink about this to the landerowner but now I'm afraid this guy is going to go talk to the landowner and say "What kind of jerks do you let hunt on your land?" or something along those lines. To make things better, from my makeshift stand location I watched through my binoculars the big 8 come out of his trail at 7:03pm... a couple minutes ahead of schedule and I was not there to welcome him. I have an urge to right a letter and put it up on this stand to explain everything as politely as possible and to make him feel like he's the intruder
. I'm still steamin'. Any suggestions on what to do?
