It is going to be a good fall!
Minnesota gun season opened November 3rd (terribly early and during the rut) but "it is what it is".
Justin (age 15) was sitting on a small parcel we own. There were a few bucks in the area---game camera pictures, and past sheds told us to be in the stand. We had not hunted this area much and some does had piled into and were bedding nearby.
At 8:30 Justin said a doe came trotting in from the south. He got his gun ready anticipating the possibility of a buck. Behind her, was the buck, and a nice one.
He grunted the buck to a stop @ 30 yards and took the shot. The buck ran a little south and piled up in the plowed field. It turned out to be a perfect heart shot.
He was so excited, it was just amazing. We knew the buck was in the area, but he was actually bigger than we anticipated. 11 points and a gross score of 154 inches. A true Minnesota trophy!!!
