Does anyone on here hunt near Lovilia or know of anyone who does ? I would like to get any input as to what the quality of the whitetail hunting in this area is like. Also, what is the hunting pressure like ? Any input you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

I live and hunt just south of Lovilia in Albia. There are plenty of deer here and plenty of quality bucks. I can't speak for the amount of pressure as I don't hunt that portion of the county but I am sure it is like the rest of Monroe County and it sees a pretty decent amount of hunting pressure...let me know if you have other questions

I hunt near Lovilia and the quality of deer there is isn't any different there than in any other part of the state. One thing that I have noticed is that ever since the Lovenstuen buck was harvested, the pressure has gone up dramatically in all of Monroe county. I can't even recall how many times I have been disturbed while hunting from other hunters. Also, because that buck was shot nearby, the land prices are outrageous and much more expensive then some counties just to the North of there! For some reason, people think that just because one big buck is shot in a county, that there are WR's running around everywhere, but they need to realize that this is Iowa, and not always as great as everyone makes it out to be! There is not a Booner hanging out around every corner.

I used to hunt south of Lovilia a great deal. An uncle of mine bought some land there a few years back and built a small hunting cabin on his property. The whole area gets a pretty decent amount of pressure for both deer and turkeys and there's a lot of coyote hunters locally. There is also the wildlife population there to support it though. There's some awesome bucks in that stretch of country.
