Well the boys and I gave the MRS a guided turkey hunt for Mothers Day. It turned out great for Curly but Barb came home empty handed. Barb and I did a Kat sneak on a strutting, all reddish brown with white spots everywhere, tom and she had him dead to rights at 20 yards for about 30 seconds but couldn't steady the gun. Last year when she took her bird she retold the same troubles; I never should have let her hunt with that full size gun again. She thought it was a blast and all I can think about is how cool a full mount of that bird would have been. She said it didn't help have me right there saying shoot, shoot.
Curly’s bird was a classic; we had just moved our setup and had him coming in right way. He moved to position, around the other side of the tree, for the shot and I stayed right where I was, facing away, continuing to call as the gobbles got louder and louder. BOOM and it was over. That is the second time I've called for one of the boys and didn't get to see the shot. I really love it when an unseen bird responds and comes in like that.
Nate kicked some butt of his own earlier and posted, here’s a photo of the team.
