an email i recieved today....

OK, I’m sorry, but somebody has to say it. I am already very tired of the headlines concerning how “the world is morning the loss of Michael Jackson.” Even the Pope made a statement about the great loss to humanity . . .

Folks, we have young men and women giving up their lives for our country and the freedom of others every day. There are young people in Iran who are probably going to be beheaded because they support free elections.

There are thousands of children and girls kidnapped every day for the sex trade in Africa and the Far East. And yes, there ARE starving children in Africa . . . STILL! Michael Jackson is not a humanitarian. He has squandered millions on his own lavish pleasures. He is not a spiritual man. He was a odd little man who fondled little boys. Quit anointing him to Sainthood.

I have friends who died in the jungles of Viet Nam 35 years ago and their memory and their sacrifice are STILL more important to me than a dance video. “Thriller” did not change my life. The loss of brave hero friends changed my life.

You want to mourn something? - Then mourn the homeless, mourn the abused children, mourn the abused women, mourn with the family of a fallen soldier, mourn for the veteran who served his or her country and now spends dreary days in dilapidated hospitals.

If you want to celebrate lives . . Than celebrate the teacher who taught you to read, celebrate the coach who showed you how to kick a soccer ball, celebrate the clergy who stand with you in times of sorrow, celebrate the lives of those who hold you in their hearts daily . .. . Celebrate your friends, your children, your parents, your siblings.

"Nuff said...... I'll get down off of my soapbox...

X3!!!!!!!!!

I couldnt care any less about this person. I think there is more specials and coverage on this than there was for the Sptember 11th attacks .

Pretty sad and it shows how screwed up peoples priorities are in this country.

I understand that the news coverage is pretty overwhelming, but stop for a minute and think about something - Michael was a musical icon to many, many people and his musical contributions are second to nobody. He had a lot of bad press, and a lot of accusations - but who are we to say for sure what he did/didn't do in regard to those accusations? We're quick to look down on anyone when they spread rumors about poaching a world class deer, but at the same time we can turn around and say he's guilty of these accusations without even knowing the entire story. Just seems like a double standard to me. I'm not trying to say he's innocent, nor am I trying to crucify him. I'm just trying to be objective. Every single one of us is odd/unique in some way. Is it really a big deal he was an "odd little man"?

A couple things I quoted from that email are:

"You want to mourn something? - Then mourn the homeless, mourn the abused children, mourn the abused women, mourn with the family of a fallen soldier, mourn for the veteran who served his or her country and now spends dreary days in dilapidated hospitals."

and....

"If you want to celebrate lives . . Have you ever listened to USA for Africa's "We Are the World", or Michael's song, "Heal the World" and the lyrics behind them? If not, maybe you should do that.

And to say he's getting more coverage than the 9/11 attacks is just crazy!

I never once said anything about the accusations or what he did or didn’t do. I just do not understand nor does anyone that I know of all different ages understand the full blown coverage of a once talented musician, yes I did say once.

I admit I exaggerated the 9-11 coverage but we haven’t seen the end yet. My opinion doesn’t matter too much but I find it odd when I see people distraught over the death of Michael Jackson:confused:.

I’m done, nuff said

where are all of those trail cam pics!!

Way to much time and tv coverage spent on his death. While traject to his family, I could give a rats A** about his death. No impact on my life. I think his estate and or family shoulf be charged for the hundreds of thousands of dollars they are saying the city sill have spent on police and security for the procession and for the public visitation... A fiasco in my opinion.

To clarify, I wasn't referring to you in particular about accusing him, just trying to make a general commment based on many posts I've read on various web forums. I try to be respectful with all of my posts, including this one. Trail cams .... I need to get mine back out!!

Jody, those weren't just accusations. I've heard enough lawyers that have read the court transcripts to know that he was guilty of being a child molester. Period. I don't give a rats a-- what he contributed to the music industry. There is absolutely no need to worship a person that did the horrifying things he did. Worshiping this low life pretty much sums up with this country is becoming.
Personally, I'm glad he's gone. The world is a better place.

I think I heard that ten American soldiers lost their life in Afghanistan this past week, tough to hear through all the clatter, though. :(

[QUOTEan innocent guy doesn't give the family $22 million to keep out of court! ][/QUOTE]

Maybe not, but if someone did that to my child, $22 million or all the money in the world wouldn't keep him out of court. kind of supports the theory it may have been all about the money. Either way, I agree that our soldiers should be getting the publicity, not a used to be pop star.

Pretty sickening how people worship and idolize this dufus even after all the crap we may/may not know about him. Kind of a "false god". I'm sick of it.

i guarentee with the type of parents we have on this site, their kids wouldn't have been his targets. i would bet that his victims were from backgrounds where his money and influence would guarentee his safety to do as he wanted.

Just seeing the video of him dangling his own baby from a balcony by one arm was enough evidence for me that the Man (or woman) had issues.

Too bad cause at one time he could have gave away half his talent and still would have been more talented than almost everyone.

I totally agree, this is a joke with the media coverage. It is just sickening to believe this scum can be idolized/mourned over when our own troops & other american heros don't get this attention.

Another thing that I am sick of is hearing about is the friggen butter sculpture! If they want to do a memorial why not use Coach Ed Thomas from AP. This guy was not only an amazing football coach but an amazing man and Iowan. He touched so many young men's lives in the right way, not like MJ who touched young men in the pants!

Nuff said from me too, but seriously this is insane and sickening.

The irony is if he would have been convicted he would prob. still be alive today sitting in prison.
Now hes in one of the two places that knows the truth!

I will say that there was good, sufficient coverage regarding Ed Thomas and while it was a terrible tragedy, at least his legacy and reputation was fairly and favorably presented in the media. By all accounts, HE was a hero figure and someone that people should respect and mourn his passing.

Meanwhile, it is a real concern to me that SO MANY people in this world now are so centered on celebrity that for them the OVER coverage of MJ is normal, etc. What is wrong with people? It literally scares me that so many people appear to idolize MJ.

I acknowledge that MJ was a tremendously talented performer, but he was just an entertainer. (I am not even commenting on his personal issues here.) Jeez, when did this country first cross over and lose their collective perspective on things like this? There are still real heroes amongst us, thank goodness, but the nuts and freaks are too often celebrated and held up as role models, etc, and are given incessant coverage about their every bowel movement.

IMO we need to quit worshipping celebrity, including "movie star" hunters, and get back to a place where we recognize and pay proper respect to common people amongst us that behave themselves, treat others well, help their neighbors, etc. Just because someone is on TV or can dance real well doesn't elevate them to "god" status in my book.

Now I too can say..."nuff said." :) :)

Bury the freak and lets move on. i for one wasnt surprised to see him gone and havnt shed a tear yet.... nor will I.

Death sucks, but this guy was no hero.

He's fertilizer now......
