PLEASE make sure you read BLAKE'S "No Safety Harness" Post. I am piggy-backing onto his. I simply wanted to show you this idiot, I mean TOTAL TARD that fell 30'+. This guy is as dumb as you can get, if you see him, point and laugh in his face! Ok, actually this is ME....
*I broke my back and shattered my arm into little pieces while putting up a stand at 6:30 am in JULY, two years ago, I was by myself trying catch up before my brother came out to meet me (got to 100 degrees later). I was re-doing some screw in steps that I took out to get in my stand and stepped on a "healthy branch", I clawed at the Hickory bark so bad on the way down that I ripped the skin off the tips of my fingers. Had to drag myself out and drive to hospital, I actually smiled looking at my shattered arm because I realized I wasn't paralyzed. Don't be like me....

Great reminder Skip...some tree stand accidents are "fixable"... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

30' Skip? I know you like to hang 'em high but dang! HAHA. Glad you're okay bud.

I got the Hunters Safety System lineman's belt this year because I wanted to start getting the sticks up into the 22 - 23' range and let me tell you that thing makes hanging a stand easy and safe. You can also wear it climbing up so you're always anchored. My wife saw it advertised and bought it for me. I'm loved! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Yeah, most of my stands are about 22-33 feet, depending on the tree. My brother thought it would be FUNNY if he measured it for me when I was in the hospital, he was like "DUDE, you fell more than 30'!!!".
Could have been worse, take the time to buckle-up w/ that harness!

Oh yeah, I was a MANIAC on the re-hab (within the limits of course) AND with the support of a wicked arm brace, I was able to bowhunt still that fall! Fully recovered now, thanks for the words.
