Otter Quota Filled, Season Closed
DES MOINES - The Iowa otter season officially closed at 12:00 p.m., Monday, Nov. 22, when the quota of 500 otters was reached. The otter call-in line was updated reflecting the season quota had been filled and the 48-hour grace period was in effect. The grace period will end at 12 noon on Wednesday, Nov. 24.
Trappers are now required to turn all otters caught after Nov. 24 at noon, over to the DNR without penalty.
Bobcat Quota Filled, Season Closed
DES MOINES - The Iowa bobcat season officially closed at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, when the quota of 250 bobcats was reached. The bobcat call-in line was updated reflecting the season quota had been filled and the 48-hour grace period was in effect. The grace period ended at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Hunters do not have a grace period.
Trappers are now required to turn all bobcats caught after Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m., over to the DNR without penalty.
Trappers are encouraged to carefully release any live animals from their traps.
