I'm not sure where to post this so I thought this would be the best forum.
Long story short: my boss gave me a 40hp Evinrude Lark IV last fall just to get it out of his garage. It was on a boat he'd traded for his current one and the wife was on him to get the garage cleaned up. It hasn't run for several years, but was cared for very well during its use. He is highly non-technical and refused to sell it because he didn't want to risk it not working and damaging his reputation in the community (odd reasoning...but hey whatever, right?).
Anyhow he offers this thing to me out of the blue if I'll come get it. Now I've had it in my garage for 6 months and I don't have a clue what to do with it. I don't have a boat. I don't plan on getting a boat. I don't have family or friends with a boat that would float this thing.
I don't want to take it to the dump if somebody could use it. I know these things carry a hefty price tag...and I don't want to make a bunch of cash off of it either since I got it for free. If any of you are in dire need for an outboard or know somebody who could use it PM me and maybe we could organize a swap or something. I'd be willing to part with it so that you could mount it up and make sure it runs before trading any goods or cash.
Like I say, I just don't want to trash a good unit if somebody can get some use out of it.
