Opened my newspaper this morning and on the front page, "Cattle branding is chapping more than just PETA's hide". Seems they are concerned that hot branding cattle is cruel and too painful. They have also convinced Burger King and Applebee's resturants to send their suppliers a letter asking them to find pain-free alternatives to branding. There are some veterinarians that agree. Of course branding has been done since the Spanish settlers to discourage livestock rustling and there is at present no alternative.
Inside the paper was another article titled "Leather basketball bounced". Seems the NCAA announced that composite basketballs would be used in place of traditional leather balls at championship games. PETA immediately claimed victory because they had petitioned the NCAA on this very subject a few months before. The NCAA said it was not influenced by the petition.
Add up all these little things that PETA and such groups do and we are faced with some real changes for us as hunters and citizens of this country.
I can't believe there are people out there with such warped views of Life. Why don't they put the same effort into taking care of this country's poor, elderly, mentally ill, etc.
