planing to early?

Last year i planed Bonar Rape on 8-8 and was not happy with the growth i got, it looked pretty sad. I thought planting earlier might help (like right now) any thoughts?

This year i also want to plant some turnnips do i need to wait to plant turnips or is not as good as any time?

I would wait on the turnips.My best luck has come with planting them in early Sept.

When I plant brassicas, I aim for an August 1st seeding. If I see a good soaking rain coming a few days before that, I'll plant just ahead of it. I basically wait for the first good rain around the first of August. I would say if you planted on August 8th and didn't like the results, it was something else effecting growth, not timing.
