Rubber boots

how important do you guys feel rubber boots are. Mine are trashed and I have always wore them religiously. But I really dont have the cash for them this year. Just curious what you guys thought.

If you dont have the money dont sweat it...Just make sure the wind is always in your favor and dont walk where the deer are coming from. Everything now days is so commercial, I know of many deer killed when guys were wearing what they went to work in that day and a old wool or camo coat....just play the wind and you will be ok.
Mind you the boots will help but are not a neccessity if you dont have the dough.

I agree with that. Be careful where you walk as well. Cover scents may be a good option too.

I don't think the choice of boots is as important as spraying them down before you go to stand. Be careful where you walk yes, but if you spray them down with scent killer or something, it helps alot I think.

Before I started wearing rubber boots quite often young deer would follow my tracks and bucks & mature does would freeze, then retreat when they came across my path. I tried the spray and/or cover scent to no avail, I was walking in over half a mile. With rubber boots, it hasn't happened once. They are hot in warm weather and not nearly as comfortable or quiet though. I won't hunt without them now.

COON PEE!!

I Wear it on both, but would never walk in without it on on nonrubber boots!!

The toughest part you will ave is the deer that smell your trail and never even get close enough to see. Your entrance route will become, by far, the most essential part of your hunt! Should be able to get some cheapies at Farm and fleet!

Spray whatever you where down and/or find a nice fresh cow pie to stop around in. Make sure you have a ways to walk before you clean your boots off on your tree steps though.

I have made that mistake before

I may be off base here but...I've never paid more than $15 for a pair of rubber boots, that includes ones with liners. Go to a hardware store and drop down $10, who cares if they're just "rubber boots", mine are, they've worked.

I bought a pair of Lacrosse rubber boots last year. The one thing I noticed was that they reeked of rubber smell. Before last year, I wore either leather boots I sprayed down with/stepped in cow patties or pac boots. Even if the rubber smell will be okay, I just don't have as much confidence in these as the boots I used to wear - so I'm going to get rid of them.

i don't wear rubbers.....hmm....i generally have a pair of regular goretex leather boots set aside in the fall that i wear just for bowhunting and i spray them down heavily at the begining of the season with a scent killer and re-apply every trip out. everybody has there own little way of doing stuff, thats mine.

Ive worn the alpha series lacrosses for the last several years. im going to try out the new dream season boots this year tho!
