rut vacation

With the rut moon coming oct 25,who feels the rut will be strong the second week of nov?I can't decide what week to spend in the woods.Last week of oct would be the one if you go by the rut moon, any opinions?

according to the last Winke article and what research says, the actual rut starts about 5-7 days after the rutting moon...and then he goes on to say that all the researchers disagree to some extent...

so who knows...all I know as a biologist is that it never happens the same exact time, nor do scientists agree, nor is there any real concrete evidence...only speculations with some supportive data...(mostly from tagged deer in Texas, go figure)

the only thing I do know is that NOV. 7 is the date in which the highest number of big bucks have been taken, above any other date...can't go wrong there...

Hope this helps...

Did that a couple years ago. I hate that it ended, but that's the way things go...just gotta get a job with a slow time in the fall!

Man...I'm lucky to squeak out a sat. hunt in Nov. I'd like to see some rut stuff one of these yrs, time to find a new job maybe.

I hit it as hard as I can from Halloween on. I have seen the most chasing during the 1st week of November with good luck after the breeding phase the 3rd week. That is the week that I harvested my best deer to date.

Same here. Last year I took the first two weeks of November as vacation and didn't fill my bow tag until the day after Thanksgiving.
