This weekends clearcut

This weekend we were supposed to be planting trees the whole time but when we got up Sat. at 6am it was in the upper 20s windy and fresh snow. We decided to grab the chain saws and do something we've wanted to get done for a while. This little bowl we call it is surrounded by a real thick mature bur oak and cedar stand. The deer and turkey love it here but we thought we would improve it be opening up the interior where it is mostly mulberries and a couple monster oaks. Hopefully this gets real thick, there are already some small goose berries and such popping up.

Nice job! Interesting to see what it looks like in a year or so! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

We're hoping it really lets in a bunch more sun to the hillside. You can see in the first picture you can't even see the cedars across the bottom and in the next picture you can see the whole hillside, should let some more growth come up.

great job guys! I love to see someone really get after it.
I did a large select cut 4 years ago and it was a great move.

those before and after pics speak volumes!

keep up the good work.
