Topo Map website opinions

I'm heading to Colorado bowhunting elk at the end of the month. I have been looking around at different maps and haven't found any one that really stands out above the rest. Do any of you have a preferred site for getting maps from? I need to get one ordered sooner than later.

I think mine were from the USGS but that was 10 years ago. I am sure they have improved. Are you looking for a "hard" map or software for a GPS?

I think I went on the USGS website and identified the area I wanted, which was Routt National Forest - Steamboat Springs area. I think the USGS website then linked to another site to buy the maps. I would probably get on it soon.

If you are buying a "hard" map make sure it is weatherproof as it is worth the extra $$$.

I used these guys for maps I carried during hunting trips to Ontario and Iowa; they can laminate the map for field use which is nice

It certainly is possible to do it yourself depending on your savvy and available time/resources.

Good Luck!

I'm going to get a hard map and definitely waterproof it. I will check mytopo.com I found BLM, topo, and herd seasonal home range maps on huntdata.com. If I read it correctly I can have them overlaid and have them printed in 3D.
