Trimming

I bought a new Lone Wolf Stand. The questions that looms in my mind is trimming shooting lanes when I pack my stand in to hunt out of. What trimming tools are you guys bringing in to trim shooting lanes?

I use a 12' telescoping limber. It has a 10" saw and a snipper for small limbs. Obviously I trim before the season. The limber would be a little hard to carry in with you when you hunt.

I take a small saw and a hand pruner. Usually, on same day hunts I only use the hand pruner due to noise.

Off season I use a 14 foot pole trimmer mainly.

I hava a telescoping pruner/saw combo that I use before season. If I'm mobile, I use a Gerber folding saw. If you throw a few long zip-ties in your pack you can actually cinch the saw to a stick in the woods and reach a little further.

I use a hand pruner due to noise and the smell of the dust a saw leaves behind on same day hunts. I also try to be selective as possible on tree selection. This is the only disadvantage of packing in a stand on a regular basis. If I find a good location during the off season I hang something other than my lone wolf there. It is nice to have the flexibility of moving 30 yards to 30 miles with the lone wolf.
