My Dad was checking cow's and calves today in the pastures and thought a calf was out in our oats field. Way at the other end he could see a black blob.
He carries a pair of binoculars on the four wheeler so he checked it out.
Here at the other end was a hen and a huge tom all fanned out.
Would it be a late hen? Was he just showing off?

they will breed again if their eggs get wiped out have you had some flooding issues or maybe predators at least I have heard pheasants will

I have seen more bosses out strutting for the ladies this week than I have all season. They are everywhere!!

X2. But, I've also seen them strutting in the fall or even winter when there is warm weather. I think they just like to show off when the weather is nice.

We have had rain but 0 flooding, not even enough rain to raise the cricks. Probably racccoons or skunks. Or just showing off to his lady friend! LOL
