Whisker Biscut and fletching

I use the whisker biscut and I like to use feathers because I don't think they drag as much as plastic vanes when they go through the biscut. I was wondering if I could trim the height of the feathers down some for even easier passage. How far down could I trim them and not lose stabillity? For that matter I could trim plastics too. Any correlation to lenght of fletching and height of fletching? Could I go longer and shorter?

Muddy in butt floss? Next step is Jerry Springer.
