I've used one for 20 years now. Tried without for a month awhile back and felt naked. My question would be what would the negatives be to using one? Helps improve accuracy and confidence...Wouldn't shoot without one.

I'd worry first about shooting him. Based on the shot I'd decide if the doc appointment was necessary after that. If you can get out there I'd be out there regardless of temp. Thats just me though.
